Allura is one of Oceania Cruises’ newest ships and is part of a fleet located in the upper premium segment of the cruise market. These ships are designed for destination-focused itineraries, typically carrying just over 1,000 guests, with an emphasis on longer port stays and smaller passenger capacities compared to mass-market cruise ships. The brand is known for its culinary programming, variety of specialty restaurants, and high crew-to-guest ratio.
The call to Grand Bahama adds another premium cruise option to the island’s itineraries as destinations across the Bahamas continue their efforts to diversify cruise arrivals beyond larger, higher-capacity ships.
Tourism officials said the visit is consistent with broader efforts to strengthen cruise partnerships and increase visitor activity on the island.
Karenda Rolle, senior manager of customer service and education at the Ministry of Tourism, said the call reflects the destination’s focus on providing a consistent experience for cruise passengers.
She also highlighted the role of local stakeholders, including taxi drivers, suppliers and tour operators, in supporting cruise arrivals and promoting on-island activities during port calls.
Allura’s arrival marks the vessel’s first entry into Grand Bahama’s cruise circuit, and officials have expressed interest in continuing requests as part of future itineraries.
