Djed Spence appeared to not shake Thomas Partey’s hand before England’s match against Ghana.
While not all of the handshakes were visible in the live pictures, footage emerged on social media of the 33-year-old Spurs defender appearing to be dismissive.
All other England players were seen shaking hands with Partey.
The FA did not provide specific guidance on England players confronting Partey during the pre-match ceremony in Boston before the game.
But there was an expectation that all England players would follow FIFA protocols and shake hands with each opponent, as they did against Croatia in Dallas last week.
Partey denies seven charges of rape and one charge of sexual assault in relation to allegations made by four women between 2020 and 2022 and is due to stand trial next year. He currently plays for Villarreal in Spain.
Partey missed Ghana’s World Cup opener in Toronto last week after Canadian officials refused to allow him into the country. He was able to play in the second match against England in Boston because the United States had issued him a visa.
