After launching the Popular Topics feature in the US earlier this year, Threads is currently testing it in Japan.
“Many people outside the U.S. have been requesting the “Trending Now” feature, and we are working to bring it to more countries. This week we will begin testing this feature in Japan with a small group of people,” said Adam Mosseri, a Meta executive who leads Instagram and Threads.
Meta said the Trending Now feature highlights conversations happening in real time, but did not specify whether it filters out political topics in this section.
Although the social network says it does not actively recommend political content, it is a feature that frequently exposes political topics due to the nature of conversations on the platform.
