Tiger Woods was involved in a car accident on Friday in Jupiter Island, Florida, the Martin County Sheriff’s Department confirmed.
The condition of Woods was not immediately clear as to whether he was injured.
The accident occurred just after 2pm local time and occurred in the same town where Woods lives. Photos from the scene showed the vehicle lying on the driver’s side.
Woods has been working to return to golf after rupturing his Achilles tendon in March 2025 and undergoing back surgery in October of last year.
He competed in the TGL finals for the first time in over a year on Tuesday, where his Jupiter Links GC team lost to Los Angeles Golf Club.
Woods has been on a limited schedule since a car crash in Southern California in February 2021 that left him trapped inside after his vehicle rolled several times.
He later underwent surgery to repair an open fracture of his lower right leg, had a rod inserted into his tibia, and had screws and pins inserted into his foot and ankle during emergency surgery.
After the accident, Woods began a rehabilitation process that included spending three months in a hospital-style bed at home.
He has had at least one surgery related to injuries sustained in the April 2023 crash.
Woods was arrested in Jupiter, Florida in 2017 on suspicion of drunk driving.
The incident report said he was sleeping and “had to be woken up.” Woods was later released on his own recognizance.
Woods issued a statement after the incident, apologizing to his family, friends and fans.
US President Donald Trump insisted Woods would not play in the Masters but would attend to watch the tournament. Just a few days ago, Woods said he would do his best to compete.
“I love Tiger, but he won’t be there. He’ll be there, but he won’t play there,” Trump said Thursday in an interview with the Fox News program The Five.
The five-time Masters winner revealed he remains hopeful about competing, saying he was “trying” to participate despite ongoing physical challenges.
“I’ve been trying, it’s just that this body doesn’t recover like it did when I was 24, 25,” Woods said.
“That doesn’t mean I’m not trying. I’ve been trying for a while.”
