Tiktok Content Creator Kelley Heyer sued the video game Roblox using a dance for “Apple” of Charli XCX without permission.
Heyer posted a virus dance in June 2024, which suffered overdose of Charli XCX’s hit summer album BRAT. The dance was so popular that Charli XCX included it in the live show and even invited Heyer to perform dance at her show in New York City.
Two popular blockbuster games among children, Fortnite and RoBlox, integrated dances into the game, allowing the player to buy the “feelings” of the dances for the avatar. But Fortnite claims that he has gained Heyer’s choreography license permission, but Roblox has not signed an agreement to do so.
According to Polygon, Heyer estimates that Roblox has earned more than $ 123,000 by selling more than 60,000 emotions of “Apple” dance.
Roblox said in a statement: “As a platform run by the producer community, we are very seriously accepting intellectual property and trying to protect the intellectual property of independent developers and producers to brands and artists inside and outside the platform.
