Tribe Hotels Group, the Nairobi-based hotel brand behind Tribe and Trademark Hotels, is expanding to coastal Kenya with the launch of Tribe Beach House in Kilifi this summer.

Tribe Beach House consists of two separate homes, an eight-bedroom home and a five-bedroom home. Each home has a private wellness center with a rooftop deck, swimming pool, gym, sauna, spa and yoga studio.

Tribe Hotels said the hotel aims to differentiate itself through creative and cultural programming, including seasonal artist residencies, immersive workshops and culinary events. Signature experiences include Kilifi Creative Studio; Swahili poetry and scent-making hands-on sessions; Curated dhow cruises with musicians and historians. The property also embraces Kilifi’s new reputation as a “coastal think tank” offering learning retreats, conversations with local experts under baobab trees, and opportunities for visitors to co-create public space projects with visiting artists and entrepreneurs.

Kilifi’s appeal is further enhanced by its sustainability-oriented approach, with coral restoration projects and community-led environmental initiatives shaping the destination’s future. The town is also home to the Beneath the Baobabs Festival, a musical and cultural event held in the forest every December and January.

Tribe Hotels Group continues to expand beyond its shores, with a new hotel scheduled to open in Kenya’s Masai Mara in 2027.
