Trump called for nationalizing American elections. Is it a big deal?

President Donald Trump repeated false claims about 2020 election fraud in a podcast interview and called on Republicans to “nationalize” the election.

The U.S. Constitution allows individual states to decide how elections are conducted, and voting has long been managed by local officials across the country.
