Trump considers nominating ‘AI czar’

President-elect Donald Trump is considering appointing an ‘AI czar’ to the White House, Axios reports.

If Trump appoints such a policy director, they would be tasked with coordinating federal regulations and the government’s use of AI. Importantly, the AI Emperor would not require Senate confirmation, allowing the administration’s goals to be achieved more quickly.

It is said that the AI Emperor role, which can be combined with the ‘Cryptocurrency Emperor’ role that the White House is also considering, will complement the AI Chief Officer established under President Joe Biden’s AI executive order. Of course, Trump could choose to remove those executives (and their offices) in favor of a more top-down governance approach.

No names were presented for consideration. However, according to Axios, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, co-leader of the non-governmental organization known as DOGE, will have significant input on who will take on the role of AI czar.
