Sarah Smith, the BBC’s North American editor, had a brief phone call with President Donald Trump on Monday about her conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of the attack on Iran.
Asked whether Netanyahu was defying him by firing at Iran on Sunday, Trump said the missiles were “already on the move” when he spoke to the Israeli prime minister. He added, “If I tell you to do something, you definitely do it.” The call lasted less than a minute.
