Tehran said the two sides were still exchanging diplomatic messages through intermediaries despite the collapse of the ceasefire.
Late Monday, the Jordanian military said it had shot down three Iranian missiles, prompting sirens warning of fire across the country.
The Kuwaiti military previously announced that it had intercepted an Iranian drone.
Bahrain said drones launched by Iran targeted its air navigation system but did not affect traffic.
Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that several cities, including Tabriz, Chabahar, Konarak, Bandar Mashar, and Bandar Imam Khomeini, were damaged due to the U.S. airstrikes.
Iranian state media also reported that two oil tankers attempting to cross the strait exploded.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the tankers ‘exploded and came to a halt’ while transiting the ‘unsafe and dangerous southern route of the strait’.
U.S. Central Command (Centcom) disputed this claim.
The IRGC said that as long as U.S. airstrikes continue, the strait “will not be safe for the transportation of even a single drop of oil and gas, let alone petrochemical products,” adding that it would respond with “punitive operations.”
Over the weekend, the United States confirmed that a soldier was killed in an Iranian attack in northern Iraq on Saturday.
The news comes after the United States announced a separate attack on a base in Jordan on Friday, killing two soldiers there. The Pentagon has now identified the two as Isabella Gonzalez, 19, and Lieutenant Tyler James Feehan, 25.
A third soldier was declared missing after the attack in Jordan, and U.S. officials said “unidentified remains” were found during a search.
As the strike continued over the weekend, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the United States was “always open to a diplomatic solution.”
He also said that “the world must decide whether to bring international waterways under Iranian control” and that Tehran was using vital shipping routes as leverage.
His comments come as a preliminary agreement to halt fighting, signed in mid-June, collapsed after President Trump declared the agreement “over” on July 8, leaving little progress in talks for a permanent peace.
