According to Tumblr, “New users will have this tab enabled in the third position by default, and existing users will have this tab available in their dashboard tab configuration if it is not already enabled.”

When you tap the Tumblr TV tab, you’ll see a grid of videos and GIFs. Tap one to like, comment, repost, or share, and when you’re ready to see something else, swipe up to move on.

In a very brief test, despite the swipe interface and video inclusion similar to other short-form video apps, it still contains a lot of GIFs.

It might be tempting to compare Tumblr TV to TikTok, especially considering its recent shutdown, but for now it’s more like scrolling through a group text full of GIFs.
