Six people have died in a fire at a perfume warehouse in northwestern Türkiye.

The governor of Kocaeli Province said the fire broke out in Dilovasi at 9:05 a.m. local time on Saturday.

Provincial Governor Ilhami Aktas told Turkish news outlet CNN Turk that five people were hospitalized and one person was being treated in a burn unit.

The fire has now been extinguished.

Images released by Turkish media show firefighters putting out a large fire.

“I heard an explosion… I looked from the balcony and saw that my colleague’s clothes were on fire. I took out a hose and put out the fire. Then I saw flames engulfing the factory,” an eyewitness told local TV, quoted by AFP.
