Maple Leaf Foods Inc., Lisle, Illinois, is recalling 12,036 pounds of non-ready-to-eat smoked bacon products imported from Canada without the benefit of re-inspection on import into the United States, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The frozen smoked bacon products in question were produced on June 9, June 10, June 12, June 13, and June 15, and the following products are subject to recall.
- 12-ounce vacuum package of “Royal Natural Applewood Smoked Canadian Natural Uncured Bacon Product” with “September 1, 2026” and “September 7, 2026” sell-by dates printed on the side of the package.
- 12 oz vacuum package of “TOP VALU Uncured Hardwood Smoked Bacon PRODUCT OF CANADA” with various sale dates “September 1, 2026”, “September 2, 2026”, “September 4, 2026”, “September 5, 2026” and “September 7, 2026”
The recalled products have the Canadian establishment number “EST. 1” printed on the side of the package and a health certificate “2026-S732971612” printed on the master case box. These items were distributed to additional grocery distributors and retailers in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
This issue was discovered during routine inspection activities by FSIS.
There are no confirmed reports of illness or injury resulting from consumption of this product. Anyone concerned about illness or injury should contact their health care provider.
FSIS is concerned that some of the products may be in consumers’ refrigerators and freezers. Consumers who have purchased the product in question are advised not to consume the product. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
