Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have worked together for much of their professional careers.

They have each won multiple world championships, but both have lost their belts and must fight to get them back.

But it's possible that Fury and Joshua, two great heavyweight rivals, will eventually cross paths – even if they don't necessarily win their next fight.

“I always thought AJ and Tyson would fight at some point. At some point. Win, lose, whatever,” said Todd DuBoef, president of Fury's U.S. promoter Top Rank. Sky Sports.

“It's like Batman and Robin. They go together. I think they're going to fight at some point, no matter what the project is or how they win the fight.

“I think they both have great fan bases. They both come from great countries with a long history.

“We've had a great heavyweight renaissance and Britain has been the epicenter of it, so I always felt they would fight at some point.”

It's just his instinct. Fury and Joshua are focused on immediate challenges to Usyk and Dubois respectively.

But it also comes from his interpretation of boxing history: fights between fierce rivals of similar stature in the sport can take a long time to build. But they tend to build eventually.

“I think there's a lot to be proud of between us, we've had a rivalry for 15 years and I don't think that's ever going to go away,” Dubov said of Fury and Joshua.

Fabio Wardley believes Anthony Joshua has rediscovered his wicked streak and will be brimming with confidence when he faces Daniel Dubois.

“Mayweather-Pacquiao eventually happened. There was a 10-year rivalry and it finally happened. I think at some point it made sense.

“If you look at history, you can see how things happen,” he continued. “I think timing is everything.

“At some point, I think they just lock it up and get in the ring together. It makes the most sense in the world.

“I believe that anything can happen.”
