Tyson Fury and Arslanbek Makhmudov hit the scales ahead of their heavyweight clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
This will be Fury’s first fight since losing his rematch to Oleksandr Usyk in late 2024. He sat out all of last year before ending his brief retirement.
However, his condition and form will be closely monitored as he returns at the age of 37. He dropped his weight from 281 pounds to 267.9 pounds despite being dressed for a rematch with Usyk.
“Every time I’m in camp, it gets a little harder,” Fury said. netflix. “Father time waits for no one because the older you get, the more injuries you get. It gets a little harder each time, but I still have a lot in the tank. After four or five more retirements, it will be good.
“My priority is to beat this guy. I have a bunch of Easter eggs in the fridge. I want this belt back from whoever has it.
“I was undefeated for 17 years. That was a long time. I took it for granted, lost two in a row and became the hunter again, not the hunted. It feels good to go back to 2015 and be a young, fresh, clean-shaven kid again.
“I’ll drive this big guy out and bring in another big guy next time.”
Mahmudov is a seasoned heavyweight contender with two losses on his record, but he has many early finishes and a knockout percentage of over 90%.
He spoke only mildly in preparation for the fight compared to Fury’s typical rants. But he was a big man who always looked scary. It weighs 264.9 pounds.
“I’m ready to go. I look forward to my story coming true and my dreams coming true,” Mahmudov said.
“This is my dream, this is my time.
“When I was 9, my uncle told me I would be like Muhammad Ali or Mike Tyson.
“For this fight I’m going to go 12 to 20 rounds. No problem.”
Conor Benn reached the 150-pound catchweight limit of 149.5 pounds in his first fight since returning to middleweight, fighting Chris Eubank Jr twice at 156.4 pounds and 159.3 pounds.
“I definitely could have made 147, but you can’t be sure until you do it,” Benn said.
“Everyone was more experienced, Van Heerden was more experienced, Algieri was more experienced, Samuel Vargas, Sebastian Formella, it’s my job to go there and continually prove that I’m at that level.
“I’ve been training middleweights at the gym. I’m excited to fight someone my size for once.”
American opponent Regis Prograis is slightly lighter at 148.1 lbs, moving up from super lightweight in his first fight since his unanimous decision victory over Joseph Diaz in August.
“I think it depends on the level, I’m a two-time world champion and I was the best in the world,” Prograis said. “I’m not taking anything away from Conor Benn, but I think I’m the better fighter.
“If you look in his eyes, he’s definitely ready and I’m definitely ready. I think he’s bringing out things that I’ve never seen before.”
Richard Riakporhe weighed in at 234.12 pounds ahead of his British heavyweight title fight against defending champion Jeamie ‘TKV’ Tshikeva, who weighed 262.7 pounds.
“It was crazy (because I previously went down to cruiserweight), I had to run miles, skip meals, not eat anything for days before the race, just eat salad,” Riakporhe said.
“It’s a legendary belt named after you, the British champion. It has a ring on it. I’m happy to be a part of it.”
Meanwhile, Frazer Clarke weighed in at 259.12 pounds against Australian Justis Huni, the lighter of the two at 246.14 pounds, in his first fight since being knocked out by Fabio Wardley last June.
Clarke will be looking for a comeback win after losing to TKV to miss out on the British title.
“I don’t feel pressured and I’m excited. If you’re not excited and enjoying what you do, you’ll never excel at it. Since moving to Joe (Gallagher) the excitement and positivity has carried over into Saturday night.
“People have short memories. I’m a good fighter and I’ll show that on Saturday. We know he can box, other than his loss to Wardley. He’s looked good in all his fights, but I can box.”
