U.S. airstrikes on Iran for 7 consecutive nights

The U.S. military said it had carried out airstrikes against Iran for the seventh day since President Donald Trump declared the temporary ceasefire agreement ended.

In a statement shared with

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said two oil tankers exploded in the Strait of Hormuz while passing through a mine-bound section of the seaway. Centcom dismissed this as false.

The Jordanian military said it intercepted 10 Iranian missiles fired into its airspace overnight but caused no casualties or damage.

Centcom said it had ended the strike a few hours later at 21:30 ET (02:30 BST).

“The U.S. military operated fighter jets, aerial drones, and warships, in addition to other assets,” the U.S. military said in a statement.

Iran’s state-run Fars news agency said, “Two oil tankers exploded and caught fire while passing through a mine route south of the Strait of Hormuz.” Centcom later posted on X: “Like most IRGC claims, this is false.”

Due to continued airstrikes by the U.S. and Iranian forces, most maritime transportation in the Strait of Hormuz has been halted. The strait typically accounts for about a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas supplies.

Iranian state media reported that explosions were heard in the central city of Yazd, the island of Qeshm and the port of Bandar Abbas next to the strait.

On Friday, Iranian forces claimed to have attacked several U.S. military installations in the Gulf region in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and, for the first time, Syria, claims the United States denies.

Kuwaiti officials previously said the Iranian drone attack wounded many soldiers and damaged power plants and desalination plants.

Sources told the BBC’s US partner CBS News that several American soldiers were injured during Iranian attacks on two Jordanian bases last week.

The United States has denied Tehran’s initial claims that Iranian forces attacked the country’s civilian infrastructure, including bridges, train stations and airports. Local authorities in the affected region of Hormozgan said seven people were killed in the attack.

BBC Verification and BBC Persia have confirmed footage of damage to the Garibe Bridge after nighttime footage showed a fireball visible above it.

Daylight images show a collapsed road with debris around a broken bridge.

A White House spokesman told the BBC that the United States “only struck military targets, including military infrastructure.”

Friday marked the latest night of attacks in a week since peace talks with Iran collapsed as tensions over the future of the Strait of Hormuz hampered efforts to broker a permanent ceasefire.
