Ukraine’s chief military commander said the army is defending small territory in Russia almost a year ago.

In August 2024, Ukraine occupied more than 1,000 square kilometers (386 square miles) of Russian land and began an amazing invasion into the Koursk area.

Ukrainian commander Oleksandr Syrsky said 10,000 Russian troops are trying to reclaim his army.

Russia claimed that it has repeatedly recaptured the entire area, but on Sunday, Ukraine still said that it still has about 90 square kilometers (56 square miles) in the custom area.

Syrsky talked with journalists on Sunday and vowed to increase the “scale and depth” of strike in Russia.

“Of course we will continue,” he said.

“We are fighting and destroying military goals purely without fighting the population.”

Ukraine seized dozens of villages in the Kursk area immediately after the invasion began on August 6, 2024.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kursk operations could establish a buffer area to prevent the Russian army from being deployed in major areas in Eastern Ukraine.

But after Russia was strengthened to the Russian Guy region, including thousands of troops from allies, Kiev’s development was suspended.

In recent months, Ukrainian troops retreated from Cusk after restoring the territory as part of Moscow’s driving after facing 70,000 Russian troops.

Last fall, North Korea sent about 11,000 troops to Kursk to fight the Ukrainian border incident.

Western officials said in January that at least 1,000 Russians died in only three months.

Earlier this month, the government in Pyongyang promised to restore the damaged infrastructure by dispatching thousands of mining troops and builders to the Kursk area of Russia.
