Ukraine War: Blinken, Lamy Urge Lifting Long-Range Missile Limits

The review of this policy will intensify when British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer meets Biden at the White House on Friday.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal thanked Rami for Britain's military support to Ukraine throughout the war.

But he added: “We hope to have long-range equipment to strike enemy territory, and we will have it, and we hope for your help and support in this matter.”

Currently, the US and UK are not allowing Ukraine to use long-range missiles against targets inside Russia, fearing that this will escalate the situation.

Britain has provided Ukraine with Storm Shadow missiles, which have a range of about 250 km (155 miles). So far, they have only been used against Russian targets in occupied Ukrainian territory.

But Ukrainian leaders say they need the missiles to attack air bases used by Russian fighter jets that fire devastating glide bombs into Ukraine, often from deep inside Russian territory.

The Kremlin said on Wednesday that Russia would respond “appropriately” if the United States allowed a missile strike on Ukrainian territory.
