“I believe that we are here today, able to enjoy sports and the Olympics. It is also thanks to their sacrifices. And I believe that they deserve to be with me today. They also deserve to be with me on Games Day.” “I really wanted to see him race today. It was a really emotional morning. So – yes, we put these rules in place to try and be fair and also try and allow us to do both things: allow the athletes to express themselves while also allowing them to be safe.” Reporter: “How did you feel about not being able to compete?” “It’s terrible, you can imagine. I’m a professional athlete and I’ve been training for hours every day for four years. Of course, as an athlete I’ve always dreamed of an Olympic medal, and I feel like it’s been taken away from me.”
