The US Golf Association (USGA) recently confirmed that despite the failure of Rory Mcilroy and Scottie Scheffler, it will not change the driver’s test protocol or release test results.
At the PGA Championship last month, the driver test was interested in the report that MCILROY’s driver was considered inadequate.
MCILROY, who used backup drivers throughout the tournament, decided not to talk to the media during the competition, but later confirmed the report and expressed the disappointment that the results were leaked.
World NO 1 SCHEFFLER also said that it had switched from the PGA Championship to a backup driver after the original club test failed.
In this week’s Oakmont at US Open -Live on Sky Sports Mike Whan, a USGA CEO, said that inadequate results are not usually intentional violations, but because of wear.
“These drivers do not raise the timely time during the test.” They simply come out of the line due to abuse. “
WHAN emphasized that USGA will perform driver testing as a service for players, manufacturers and tours. He said the organization is trying to keep the outcome confidential to avoid unnecessary debates.
“What happened in PGA Championship has strengthened our resolutions to prevent it from being a public scenes,” he said. “Reality is much less dramatic than the headline.”
The driver naturally decreases over time and eventually fails to test “characteristic time” and measures the same effect as spring of the club face.
WHAN compared to trampoline. “The longer the ball, the more it pops out. If you exceed 258 microseconds, you will not be resistant.”
A random test was conducted in Oakmont this week, but WHAN said he didn’t know any failure. He added that the approach will be reevaluated only if the USGA has appeared.
