Latest scores from the 126th US Open, the third men’s major of the year, held at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, New York.
JJ Spaun is the defending champion after two victories at Oakmont last year, and now the American is looking to become the first since Brooks Koepka to win back-to-back titles at the US Open.
Scottie Scheffler is a pre-tournament favorite to win the elusive major title needed to complete a career Grand Slam, with the final round at Shinnecock Hills coinciding with the world No. 1’s 30th birthday.
Scheffler is seeking his fifth major title in as many seasons, having won the PGA Championship and The Open last year, while Cameron Young and two-time U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau are also among Americans looking for a home win.
Rory McIlroy has recorded back-to-back runner-up finishes in the event in 2023 and 2024, but is now looking for his second win of the season, 15 years after winning his first major title at the 2011 US Open.
Tommy Fleetwood finished runner-up to Koepka the last time the US Open was played at this venue in 2018, and Matt Fitzpatrick is another British contender at this week’s major, which has 156 players in the field.
The U.S. Open is the third of the four men’s major tournaments, with McIlroy winning the Masters in April and Aaron Rai winning the PGA Championship last month. Then, the Royal Birkdale Open (July 16-19) in England concludes the major season.
