Valero Texas Open: Tournament suspended until Sunday due to weather as Scot Robert MacIntyre’s lead dwindles | golf news

The third round of the Valero Texas Open was suspended until Sunday due to bad weather. That’s because Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre’s lead was reduced from four strokes to two as he played six holes with partner Ludvig Aberg.

The delay stretched to six hours and it was eventually decided to suspend play at 4:55pm local time.

MacIntyre entered Saturday with a commanding lead after shooting an opening 66 with a 64.

He started the third round steadily and birdied the par-4 fifth to move to 15 under par, while Ryder Cup teammate Aberg birdied the first two holes and tied MacIntyre on the fifth.

Two eagles moved Matt Wallace into a tie for third, with the Englishman two shots behind at 7 under par and 14 shots behind.

Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune also finished at 11 under par, and England’s Marco Penge birdied six consecutive holes to move one stroke further into fifth place.
