Venezuela protests: Statues toppled, armed police deployed

Thousands of Venezuelans have taken to the streets of Caracas and other cities after President Nicolas Maduro claimed victory in Venezuela’s controversial election. Video showed crowds in the Venezuelan capital clashing with riot police, and a statue of former President Hugo Chavez was toppled in Coro. The opposition rejected Maduro’s claim of victory, saying his candidate, Edmundo Gonzalez, won convincingly with 73.2 percent of the vote.
