Viking acquires sixth Nile vessel: Travel Weekly

Viking has delivered the company’s newest vessel, the Viking Sobek, to the Nile. The handover ceremony took place at the Massara shipyard in Cairo, where the new vessel was introduced.

Viking has been aggressively adding to its Nile fleet, which already includes five ships. The 82-passenger Sobek is the sister ship of the Viking Osiris, Viking Aton and Viking Hathor.

The Sobeks will undertake a 12-day tour of the Pharaohs and Pyramids. Viking plans to add four more ships over the next two years: the Viking Amun and Viking Thoth in 2025, and the Viking Sekhmet and Viking Ptah in 2026. This increases Viking’s fleet to ten Nile ships.

Your Pharaohs and Pyramids cruise tour begins with a three-night stay at a hotel in Cairo. Here, guests will visit iconic sites such as the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Necropolis of Saqqara, the Muhammad Ali Mosque or the Grand Egyptian Museum. Guests will then fly to Luxor, visit Luxor and the Temple of Karnak, and then board a Viking river ship for an eight-day round-trip cruise on the Nile.
