Viking has launched the Viking Sobek, a Nile vessel scheduled to set sail this fall. This ship would be the Vikings' sixth Nile vessel.
The company's other ships sailing the Nile include Viking Ra, Viking Osiris, Viking Aton and Antares (a company charter vessel). Another new ship joining the Nile Fleet this year, the Viking Hathor, is scheduled to set sail in August.
Viking Sobek is a sister ship to the previous vessel and features 41 staterooms accommodating 82 passengers. On board, guests can enjoy Viking's signature indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace, multiple lounge areas, common areas and in-room libraries, and the swimming pool.
The new ship will sail the cruise portion of Viking's 12-day Pharaohs and Pyramids itinerary. This includes a 3-night stay in Cairo followed by a 7-night river cruise from Luxor to Aswan. The trip ends with an overnight stay in Cairo.
Guests can extend their trip using one of several land packages, including a four-night pre-cruise extension in London, a three-night pre-cruise extension in Istanbul, or a four-night post-cruise extension in Jordan.
