Wasabi Octopus Recalled Due to Undeclared Allergens

Azuma Foods International Inc. USA (Hayward, CA) is recalling 3-pack, 5.3-ounce Azuma Foods brand Taco Wasabi Seasoned Octopus (with wasabi retail package) because they may contain undeclared fish.

People who are allergic or have a severe sensitivity to fish may be at risk of developing a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled products were distributed through retailers in California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York, Texas, and Washington.

Azuma Foods brand Taco Wasabi Seasoned Octopus with Wasabi is sold in packs of 3 with a net weight of 5.3 ounces (150 grams) covered in mylar sleeves under UPC 745329 90064 7. Individual packages weigh 50 grams. The deployment period was from mid-August 2025 to May 2026.

The lot number can be found on the bottom of the mylar sleeve and the affected lots are as follows:

No allergic reactions have been reported to date.

The recall began after it was discovered that mollusk extract had been replaced with bonito extract, necessitating a fish allergy warning. The manufacturer did not notify Azuma Foods of the change in recipe.

Consumers allergic to fish should not consume this product.
