Wayne-Sanderson Farms, one of the top three U.S. poultry producers, has named a new CEO to replace current CEO Clint Rivers when he retires next spring.

Kevin McDaniel, currently Chief Operating Officer, will become CEO starting April 1, 2025. Rivers will remain chairman of the board through fiscal year 2026.

“I have worked closely with Kevin over the past several years and am confident he is the perfect choice to lead Wayne-Sanderson Farms into its next chapter,” Rivers said in a statement. “He brings a wealth of experience and vision to the farm. I look forward to supporting him in this role.”

McDaniel joins Wayne-Sanderson as senior director of Fresh Operations and vice president and general manager of the Fresh Business Unit, according to a press release. He was appointed COO in 2021.

Previously, McDaniel served as president of poultry farming company Aviagen and held positions at Pilgrim’s Pride and OK Foods during his 30-year career. He currently serves on the boards of the National Chicken Council and the US Poultry & Egg Association.

“I look forward to a bright future for our organization as we work to achieve our vision of becoming an incredible poultry company recognized as the partner of choice by our customers, colleagues, farmers and communities,” McDaniel said in a statement.

Rivers will retire in 2022 after overseeing the merger of Wayne Farms and Sanderson Farms. The deal brought the company under the ownership of a joint venture between Cargill and Continental Grain. He was previously CEO of Wayne Farms and joined the company in 2012.

“I am deeply grateful for the incredible journey I have had with Wayne-Sanderson Farms and it has been an honor to work with such a talented and dedicated team,” Rivers said. “I am very proud of what we have accomplished together over the past 12 years.”
