A new documentary from BBC Storyville gives a vivid account of the events that took place on 7 October 2023 when Hamas attacked partygoers at Israel’s Nova music festival, killing hundreds.
Using survivor testimony, cellphone footage and Hamas footage, the film shows how a dance festival descended into chaos, fear and confusion when Hamas arrived and began killing partygoers.
On October 7, Hamas militants attacked dozens of sites across the border in the Gaza Strip and killed indiscriminately, killing about 1,200 people and taking more than 200 hostages.
Since then, more than 41,000 Palestinians have died as a result of Israel’s military operations in Gaza, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry.
Storyville: We Will Dance Again is available to watch in the UK from Thursday 26 September on BBC Two and iPlayer at 9am. The film is part of a series of programmes on BBC Two and BBC Four, and will be on iPlayer from 7 October to mark the anniversary of the war between Israel and Hamas. Another BBC Storyville, Life and Death in Gaza, will air in October.
