Nothing worked for the 49-year-old Toronto woman, who described herself as “functionally terminal” and can no longer work, leave the house or talk to loved ones. She said she is currently enrolled in a psychiatric treatment program at a local hospital designed to support people with serious and persistent mental illness who have exhausted all treatment options.
