What we know about the mysterious drone buzzing over New Jersey

Dozens of drone sightings have been reported in New Jersey since Nov. 18, according to local authorities.

The drone was first spotted near the Raritan River, a waterway that feeds into Round Valley Reservoir, New Jersey’s largest, the Associated Press reported.

Sightings soon spread to other parts of the state, including the New Jersey coast.

Some of the flights were discovered near the Picatinny Armory, a sensitive military research facility, and near President-elect Donald Trump’s golf course in the town of Bedminster, New Jersey.

A police official told the BBC’s US partner CBS News that nearby New York City reported several drones flying over the Bronx on December 12.

Police officers who responded to the scene of the accident saw a drone flying overhead, but it soon disappeared.

Drones have also been reported in other parts of the state, according to New York State Police.

Connecticut State Police also confirmed ‘suspicious drone activity’ across the state. Drone detection systems have been deployed around the towns of Groton and New London.

In Maryland, former Republican Governor Larry Hogan claimed to have seen dozens of drones above his residence in Davidsonville, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) from Washington, DC.

He wrote to “It’s because of transparency and the federal government’s disdainful attitude.”

In late November, the US Air Force also confirmed that unidentified drones had been spotted at three US air bases in the UK: RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk, and RAF Feltwell in Norfolk.

A British defense source told the BBC that suspicions had been raised about a ‘state actor’ responsible for the intrusion.

Last October, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that a mysterious drone had been seen for 17 days near a U.S. military facility in Virginia.
