US and Iranian forces are searching for missing American crew members after a US fighter jet was shot down.
Iran claimed to have shot down two U.S. fighter jets, including one F-15 fighter jet flying over the southwestern United States and one fighter jet participating in a mission to rescue the F-15 crew.
The F-15 fighter jet had two crew members. The BBC’s news partner CBS reported that one crew member had been rescued and another was still missing.
The pilot of the second plane to crash, an A-10 Warthog, was rescued and safely ejected over the Gulf Coast, CBS reported.
Iran is offering a reward to anyone who can capture the missing crew, Iranian state TV reported.
American crew members reportedly came under fire during search and rescue operations.
