The attack occurred at approximately 22:00 local time (20:00 GMT), when Berlin police received reports that a white vehicle had struck a crowd at a Pride event in Berlin.
Hundreds of thousands of people gather in Tiergarten Park near the iconic Brandenburg Gate for the annual event known as Christopher Street Day.
Some people were also stabbed in the incident.
Soon after, the Pride event was cancelled.
The performance ended abruptly, and the organizers came on stage to announce to the crowd that the event was over and started walking toward the exit.
While the message was being delivered to the crowd, the phrase ‘Evacuate’ was projected on a large screen above the stage.
Unconfirmed footage posted on social media shows many people leaving the scene as emergency vehicles rush to the scene.
At approximately 01:00 local time, police confirmed that one woman was killed and 16 people were injured.
A short time later, police located the vehicle believed to have been used in the attack, which crashed into a tree.
