Hot Honey Whipped Feta Dip

Hot Honey Whipped Feta

This Whipped Feta with Hot Honey is creamy, salty, sweet, and addicting. I tested this dip with a mix of feta and cottage cheese, and the cottage cheese made a huge difference. Not only does it balance out the sharpness of the feta cheese, but it also keeps the dip creamy and ultra-smooth while lowering the overall fat and calories. Finished with a drizzle of hot honey and pistachios, it’s the perfect balance of rich, tangy and gently spicy flavors with a little crunch. If you’re looking for a classic version, we also have a simple whipped feta dip that uses yogurt instead of cottage cheese.

Why this works

Gina @ Skinnytaste.com

In the past, I made whipped feta with Greek yogurt. This time, I wanted to try adding some seasoning by adding cottage cheese. I love how it turned out, and I can’t wait to make it again the next time I have dinner with friends or family!

  • Easy-to-make-ahead appetizers: You can whip it up in a food processor in minutes for a quick and easy appetizer.
  • Rich and creamy feeling without a heavy feeling: Cottage cheese is softened while maintaining a soft texture.
  • lighter: Cottage cheese also keeps the dip rich and creamy while lowering its overall fat and calories.

Ingredients for Whipped Feta Dip with Hot Honey and Cottage Cheese

  • Dead fetus: For the best flavor and texture, we recommend using block feta rather than pre-mashed feta. It blends more smoothly and the feta flavor is more pronounced.
  • Cottage Cheese: You can use 2% whole milk cottage cheese. Good Culture is my favorite, but I also like Daisy if you can’t find it.
  • olive oil for abundance
  • hot honey It adds the perfect amount of spiciness and sweetness. Mix some into the dip and sprinkle the rest on top to create a pretty presentation. Mike’s Hot Honey is the product I used.
  • garnish Serve with roasted pistachios for a crunch and pepper flakes for extra heat.

  • Dip makes 1 stacked cup.
  • It was so delicious when I ate it with apple slices.
  • I prefer to use blocks of feta rather than pre-crumbled ones because they have more feta flavor and have a better consistency for a smooth dip.

Why add cottage cheese to whipped feta cheese?

Cottage cheese is not a common ingredient added to most whipped feta dips. Here’s why this works:

  • Cottage cheese is lower in calories and fat than feta cheese, making it a simple way to lighten up an appetizer.
  • It adds extra protein.
  • It makes the dip softer and gives it the best texture.
  • The creamy texture of the cottage cheese balances out the sharp flavor of the feta cheese, enhancing the flavor.

Tips for preparing in advance

This whipped feta dip is great for entertaining because it can be prepared up to 2 days in advance.

  • 2 days before the party: Store the cheese mixture in an airtight container. You can also refrigerate it in a serving dish, covering it tightly with plastic wrap.
  • Right before the party: Garnish with hot honey, pistachios and red pepper flakes. Serve with crackers and vegetables.
  • During the party: Ideally, appetizers should not be left out for more than 2 hours to keep them at a safe temperature.
  • After the party: The dip will last a total of 7 days in the refrigerator. So, if you made it 2 days early, refrigerate it for up to 5 more days. Makes a great snack!
