Why didn’t Artemis II land on the moon?

The most powerful rocket NASA has ever built will launch its first lunar mission in 50 years. However, it did not actually land on the lunar surface.

That’s because the Artemis program is using its second mission, Artemis II, to prepare for a potential lunar landing by 2028 and as a stepping stone to deeper space exploration.

BBC correspondent Arunday Mukharji is in Florida for the launch.
