WildPlaces Africa’s Luxury Safari Lodge Comes to Uganda National Park: Travel Weekly

WildPlaces Africa, which operates luxury safari lodges and camps across Uganda, will expand its portfolio with the opening of a new lodge, Kulu Ora, in early 2026. The new lodge will be WildPlaces Africa’s seventh property and the second in Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest protected area.

Located in the park’s newly designated 290-square-mile low-impact zone, Kulu Ora will provide travelers with access to a remote section of Murchison Falls shared only with its sister property, Papa’s Camp. This location is designed to ensure privacy and crowd-free wildlife viewing, including the opportunity to see Uganda’s Big 7 (mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and Cape buffalo). It also offers some of the country’s best lion watching, excellent birding and Nile fishing opportunities.

Kulu Ora features 11 canvas-walled suites, each with a private plunge pool and river views, as well as a two-bedroom group suite. The main lodge will include a swimming pool suitable for laps, a spacious pool deck and bar, and a library with a selection of African literature. Overlooking the Nile River, the spa offers treatments using locally produced oils and butters. Wellness services include yoga, meditation and forest bathing under native trees.

The lodge’s design puts sustainability at the forefront. It is fully solar-powered, uses electric carts for guest transportation, and is configured to have a minimal impact on the environment. All buildings are designed to be mobile and the property has an on-site walled garden for fresh produce. A nightly conservation levy of $25 per bed is included to support park conservation and community projects.

Kulu Ora can be accessed by daily scheduled flights from Entebbe or Kajjansi to Murchison Falls, by private charter bus, or by a five-hour drive from Kampala.
