Defending champion Jannik Sinner produced a devastating display to deny Novak Djokovic a record-equalling 25th Grand Slam title and advance to the Wimbledon final against Alexander Zverev.
As at this stage last year, Sinner showed the power and precision to deny Djokovic his bid to equal Roger Federer’s record eight men’s singles titles at the All England Club.
Sinner did not have a break point until midway through the third set, but he blocked the 39-year-old Djokovic’s only chance with an ace to win 6-4 6-4 6-4.
World No. 1 Sinner, the first Italian player to reach multiple Wimbledon men’s singles finals, claimed a beloved win before edging Djokovic with a goal.
It was the 99th Grand Slam match win for four-time major winner Sinner, who will face Zverev in his seventh major final after the French Open champion beat a stunning display from British wildcard Arthur Fery.
“This is the most special tournament we’ve ever had. It means a lot to me to have another final here,” Sinner said.
“Of course, in his fight against Novak, he was a huge inspiration not only to you but also to the new generation. What he is still doing is amazing and unbelievable.
“We always play very tough matches and I am very happy with the result.”
For Djokovic, who left the court to loud cheers, the wait continues to overtake Margaret Court and claim sole ownership of the all-time record for most Grand Slam singles titles won.
