Manchester United moved up to sixth in the Premier League table with a resounding 4-1 win over bottom club Wolves at Molineux.
Bruno Fernandes’ opener was canceled out before the end of the game by Jean-Richner Bellegarde, but penalties from Brian Mbomo, Mason Mount and Fernandes further reflected United’s superiority as the game moved away from the hapless Wolves.
Rob Edwards remains scoreless in four games in charge and Wolves are adrift at the bottom of the table, 13 points adrift of safety. Ruben Amorim’s side have moved into the top six after back-to-back wins on the road in the Premier League for the first time.

Many Wolves supporters missed the first 15 minutes of the game protesting against the club’s ownership, but not much was missed from a Wolves side that looked lacking in quality and confidence in the early going and United broke through easily.
Diogo Dalot squandered a one-on-one situation and Sam Johnstone saved from Mbeumo before Casemiro robbed the sprinting Andre and the ball found its way to Fernandes, who had time to slip but still sneak the ball past the goalkeeper.
Totti Gomes had to break through Matheus Cunha’s line to face his former club, and at that stage Wolves were looking for a win there. But as was often the case under Amorim, United gave up the initiative and allowed the bottom club to come back in.
The home side sensed this and Ki-Jana Hoever’s cross found David Moller Wolfe, who smartly slotted the ball home after Bellegarde, Wolves’ best player before going off injured, slotted the ball back into the box. Edwards’ first goal came in his fourth game in charge.
But Wolves’ more hapless defending allowed United to restore the lead early in the second half, with Dalot again racing down the left channel before setting Mbemo in on goal and Johnstone scoring his first goal in exactly a month.
Fernandes’ fine moment saw him lob the ball into Mount’s path for the third goal, before Jeson Mosquera was ruled out for a handball in the area, allowing Fernandes to strike his second from the spot. The wolves were well hit.
Their fate seems already sealed in December.
Amorim United’s future this season remains a mystery.

Fernandez provided an assist to Mount’s goal. He punished Wolves and, now with Manchester United, has scored 15 goals (six goals, nine assists) in his last 14 Premier League games against a side starting in the relegation zone.
