Ms Hand, a mother-of-one, told the court how McGregor pinned her to the bed before assaulting her.
She suffered extensive bruises and abrasions all over her body, including her hands and wrists.
Her chest was bleeding and her neck was tender after she said she was placed in a “chokehold” by McGregor.
He denied the bruising and said it may have happened after she “swan jumped” into the bathtub in her hotel room.
Mr Hand was taken by ambulance to the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin the next day, where he was assessed in the sexual assault unit.
The paramedic who examined Ms Hand told the court she had not seen “someone this bruised” for a long time.
The jury heard that Ms Hand had had to quit her job as a hairdresser and had been unable to work since due to her mental health, that her relationship with her partner ended several months after the incident and that she had had to leave home. She lives in a house in Drimnagh and says she is currently in arrears on her mortgage.
She also said she had to stop seeing a counselor because she could no longer afford to pay for the sessions.
The court heard she spent more than €4,000 (£3,326) on GP, pharmacy and psychotherapy bills.
