The Republic of Ireland were knocked out of the World Cup darts in Frankfurt by debutant Chinese Taipei after suffering one of the biggest shocks in the tournament's history.

Ninth seeds William O'Connor and Keane Barry looked set to avoid an upset as they came back from 3-1 down to win their opening match to reach the final.

However, Tenlier Poupaud and An Sheng Lu regained their composure to win 4-3 and win Group E. On Friday they beat Lithuania 4-2.

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland won 4-3 against Switzerland, preventing them from advancing to the round of 16.
