Luke Littler has advanced to the semi-finals of the Boyle Sports World Grand Prix after producing a stunning comeback to stun Gerwyn Price in a final-leg thriller in Leicester.
The pre-tournament favorite breezed through his first two matches without dropping a set, but struggled early in Friday’s blockbuster match at the Mattioli Arena as Price held a two-set advantage.
Littler looked on the verge of defeat when Price moved within winning legs, but responded by winning the next set at straight legs, with the world number two on 154 and extending the contest.
Price missed three match darts in the fourth set. ‘The Nuke’ broke in the next set after a throw and took the match to five, with the momentum moving in Littler’s direction after going up 2-0 in the decider.
Price’s 15-dart hold was followed by a stunning 156 checkout to push the match into the final leg. After both players struggled to get going in the double-start format, Littler wrapped up the epic win with a 152 finish.
Littler will now face a semi-final showdown with Jonny Clayton, who dropped just one leg during a straight sets demolition on Dirk van Duijvenbode earlier in the evening.
