York Knights 14-26 Wakefield Trinity: The visitors move up to third in Super League | rugby league news

Tom Johnstone scored two second-half tries to help Wakefield to a 26-14 win over York at the LNER Community Stadium.

Trinity came out strong after the break to secure their fourth win in six Betfred Super League games and their third successive victory.

Sam Wood gave York the lead in the 15th minute of the first half, sparking four attempts before the end of the first half.

The lead changed hands twice more in the first half as Ben Jones-Bishop and Caleb Hamlin-Uele traded tries before Oliver Pratt ran in the first of two touchdowns.

Max Jowitt converted both conversions, putting Trinity in control after taking a 12-10 lead into halftime.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is one of Super League’s biggest signings of all time and says he wants to finish his career at Wakefield Trinity on a high.

Johnstone crossed twice in 17 minutes to sandwich Nikau Williams’ try before Pratt’s late finish put the gloss on the final scoreline.

The win lifted Wakefield to third in the table and came on a day when it was announced that NRL star Roger Tuivasa-Sheck would join next season on a two-year contract.

York will be disappointed with their decline in the later stages, finishing bottom four with just two wins from six appearances.
