Chef’s Recommendation: What tastes good with salmon?
- In culinary school, we learned that combining rich-tasting sauces and side dishes with richer fish is an easy task. Salmon loves dairy products!! Try healthier versions of classic butter cream sauces like hollandaise, garlic yogurt aioli, or dill cream sauce for salmon.
- Salmon is a high-fat fish with just the right amount of fresh fish flavor. So it goes well with strong flavors like citrusy lemon and salty caper.
- A healthy combination that goes well with salmon is fresh herbs, smoky spices, and natural earthy flavors.
- Soy sauce and Asian savory side dishes are really delicious when eaten with salmon.
- Lentils are especially delicious with this fatty fish! If you don’t have time to look through the list below, lentils with bacon are a great option.
Healthy Tips: Not only is salmon delicious, but it’s also known to lower blood pressure and cholesterol because omega-3 fatty acids are good for your heart!
Seasonal Notes: Salmon is delicious all year round! We love fresh Alaskan king salmon during the summer months. Time to fire up the grill! Try the cedar plank salmon on the grill. You can find sustainably sourced salmon by checking out the Monterey Bay Aquarian Seafood Watch, which posts up-to-date recommendations for sustainable seafood in the area.
