Chris Wood became Nottingham Forest’s joint top scorer in the Premier League when he scored a second-half penalty in a 1-0 home win over Ipswich.
The New Zealand international scored the opener in the 50th minute to equal Bryan Roy’s club record of 24 goals.
It was Wood’s eighth league goal this season – only Erling Haaland (12) and Mohamed Salah (10) have scored more. – They got Forest back on their winning ways as they moved up to sixth, level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea.
Ipswich twice went close in the opening half of the first half when Forest defender Ola Aina saved Cameron Burgess’ header in the 23rd minute, before Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels did well to save Omari Hutchinson’s shot 10 minutes later.
But Forest started the second half quickly and were awarded a penalty when Sammie Szmodics brought down Jota Silva and Wood put the home side ahead.
Ipswich, who needed a fine save from Arijanet Muric from Murillo’s header to not fall any further behind, failed to mount a comeback in a disappointing second half performance as they had just one shot on target.
The loss for Kieran McKenna’s side ended their three-game unbeaten run and saw them slip to second and remain in the relegation zone.
