The Philadelphia Eagles were booed by fans as the Super Bowl champions lost 24-15 to the Chicago Bears in an NFL Black Friday game at Lincoln Financial Field.
The home fans began to flock in as Caleb Williams hit Cole Kmet for a 28-yard touchdown to give Chicago a 24-9 lead with six minutes left.
Additional scathing scrutiny awaits offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and his sputtering offense, which failed to punish Williams’ interception when he fumbled on a tush-push attempt in a crucial second-half exchange.
The Bears outgained the Eagles with 425 yards to 317, ran 85 plays to the hosts’ 51, had 28 first downs, 14 of them, rushed for 281 yards, 87 of them, and held possession for 39:18 minutes until 20:42.
Ben Johnson leaned heavily on the rampant ground attack led by Kyle Monongai, having 22 carries for 130 yards and D’Andre Swift’s 18 carries for 125 yards and a first-quarter score.
Chicago improved to 9-3 atop the NFC North with its ninth win in its last 10 games, while the Eagles slipped to 8-4 after their second straight loss after blowing a 21-point lead against the Dallas Cowboys last weekend.

With boos often heard throughout a tumultuous first half, the long-disgruntled Eagles crowd wasted little time in voicing their disapproval.
Through the second quarter, Chicago accumulated 222 yards to Philadelphia’s 83, 16 first downs to 26, 142 rushing yards to 26, 21 minutes of possession to 9, 17 of 47 plays to the Eagles and, crucially, 10 three-pointers that could have been mistaken for a 30-3, in a demoralizing atmosphere.
The Eagles’ offensive stutter resumed after halftime when Hurts was intercepted by a diving Kevin Byard, who flew downhill from a safety to undercut AJ Brown’s route for his league-leading sixth pick of the season.
Vic Fangio’s defense made sure it wasn’t punished when Brown hauled in a 33-yard touchdown catch after a 23-yard scramble by Hurts before teasing the champions’ ability to turn any game around in an instant. But Jake Elliott missed the ensuing extra point to put the hosts down 10-9.
Momentum threatened to swing moments later as Williams was intercepted by Jaylx Hunt while trying to set up a screen play that Chicago had tried to orchestrate early in the game. On this occasion, Hunt should not have been fooled into jumping to break down a half-baked pass.
Frustration reigned again as the Eagles’ tush-push attempt resulted in a forced fumble and turnover, and Nahshon Wright ripped the ball out of Hurts’ hands and started a strong recovery. This season, Wright has recorded five interceptions, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble in five straight games, including a takeaway.
Johnson capitalized on his style, returning to the strength of his second-leading rushing game as Monongai ran in a 4-yard touchdown run for a 17-9 lead at the end of a 12-play, 87-yard drive that featured a fourth-and-5 conversion from Colston Loveland.
Williams’ 28-yard touchdown strike over Kmet put the Bears in misery with six minutes left and Eagles fans began to leave the ground in an ugly scene for the champions.
The early throwers briefly feared that Brown would regret his decision to leave when he reeled in Hurts’ dart for a 4-yard touchdown, but the Eagles were unable to convert the two-point attempt into a two-point game.
Swift gave the Bears a first-quarter lead when he and fellow running back Monongai hit a 3-yard rushing touchdown at the end of an 11-play, 78-yard drive that included a combined 59 yards on the ground.
Elliott cut the deficit to 7-3 with a 44-yard field goal after Hurts missed DeVonta Smith on third-and-8, and Cairo Santos restored Chicago’s seven-point advantage with a 30-yard field goal.
The Eagles take on the Chargers in Week 14, while the Bears head to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers.
