Roy Keane has called Manchester United ‘desperate’ after dropping two points against relegation-threatened West Ham. soccer news

Roy Keane has accused Manchester United of being too “frightened” to watch their side win against West Ham after squandering their chance to move up to fifth in the Premier League and calling their performance “frustrating”.

West Ham drew 1-1 in the second half at Old Trafford, and Songuto Magassa’s equalizer in the 83rd minute canceled out Diogo Dalot’s opener.

Under Ruben Amorim, United have picked up just 20 points from 27 games at Old Trafford and just one win in their last five league games. Despite being ahead in each game, they won three of them.

“When you play a team in the bottom three after they score, you take your foot off the gas,” Keane said. “Not taking anything away from West Ham, they deserved the equaliser.

“You’re just putting pressure on yourself. Every time you look at this United team, they’re disappointed. They’re not aloof, they’re not unpleasant enough to get the job done.”

“People will be scratching their heads. You make progress for a minute, you win and you end up fifth. There will be a lot of frustration.

“Show us what you’re good at. I think we were desperate in the last three or four games. We were really poor. This was our chance to get the job done and they almost scared us.”

“Same old problems. The last three or four games sum up the problem. We are not doing enough.

“Where is the frustration with this group of players? I watched the game closely. There was a lack of quality and intensity. They scored twice against Palace but defended like a pub team. There are expectations from this club. They have to deal with them.”

Keane also questioned the home side’s standard after switching off from a set-piece to concede a leveller. Since the start of last season, only West Ham (17) have conceded more league goals from corners than Manchester United (15).

“The reason you play for Manchester United is to deal with situations like this.” Keane added.

“If they are anxious, they will worry about why they are playing for Manchester United and what they are afraid of. Why are they afraid of West Ham?”

Dalot: We were so anxious, it was our fault.

Defender Diogo Dalot said his side were “uneasy” after scoring at Old Trafford and had to reflect on themselves after squandering another lead.

“Obviously I’m disappointed. We need to control the game a lot more, especially at home,” he said. Sky Sports.

“We can’t get as anxious as we get. We were a bit more sloppy with the ball. Obviously we were disappointed with the draw, we played from there.

“It is a solution we must find. In the end, we must look at ourselves. Rather, it is our fault.”
