AI-powered travel agency Fora achieves unicorn status and raises $60 million.

Travel agency Fora announced a $60 million Series D round led by Forerunner and Tactile Ventures, valuing the company at $1 billion.

Founded in 2021, Fora is a two-part platform. We make it easy for people to become travel agents by providing the infrastructure to support customer communications and travel planning. Users can also find and connect with advisors when planning a honeymoon, family vacation, or trip to destinations like Costa Rica or Thailand. Other investors in this round include Insight Partners and Thrive Capital. The company said it has raised $138.5 million in funding to date.

Some of the new capital will be used to expand Fora’s AI assistant, Via. Via assists its travel agency platform with tedious administrative tasks such as researching and creating travel itineraries. Human travel agents using the platform will instead be able to spend more time building customer relationships, and the hope is that using Fora’s AI will aid human productivity rather than replace it.

Fora said that since launch, agents on the platform have booked more than $3 billion worth of travel, with the majority of agent users receiving travel advice for the first time. The company also hopes to use the money to hire and grow in other travel categories, such as cruises and airlines.
