Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing government has taken a hard line against international and Palestinian NGOs and UN agencies for security reasons. Some of them have been operating in the region for decades. It has also passed legislation banning Unrwa, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, from operating in Israel, affecting its activities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
