I love this easy one-bowl method of making fried chicken breasts in the air fryer! Great for busy weeknights when you want something quick, easy, high in protein and delicious. Mix all the ingredients – chicken, seasoning, and bread crumbs – in one bowl, then cook in the air fryer until crispy and golden. Boneless, skinless chunks of chicken breast were juicy with perfectly imperfect skin and paired with a delicious salad made for a satisfying meal. I like to think of these as air fryer chicken nuggets for adults. How to Make Air Fryer Breaded Chicken Bites.

This easy air fryer breaded chicken bites recipe requires no prep work. Just mix the chicken and bread crumb ingredients and fry them in the air fryer! The recipe card below includes printable instructions.

  1. Chicken breast coating: Mix the shredded chicken with lemon, salt, oil, garlic, Italian seasoning, cheese, and breadcrumbs.
  2. How long does it take to cook chicken bites in an air fryer: Spray the basket with oil and add the chicken in a single layer. Air fry at 400F for 7-8 minutes.
  3. Pickle the red onions: Combine red onion, garlic, oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Let sit for about 5 minutes to allow the onions to soften.
  4. To make the salad: Add cucumber and avocado to the dressing. When ready to serve, add the shredded lettuce and drizzle with the remaining oil and vinegar.

  • Travel path: If you don’t have seasoned bread crumbs or are using gluten-free bread crumbs, add a little Italian seasoning.

  • Refrigerated storage Store the remaining chicken thighs for about 4 days and then reheat them in an air fryer to prevent them from becoming soggy. If you can’t eat it all in one night, refrigerate raw chicken and air fry it the next day for crispy breaded chicken.
  • Frozen Chicken Bites: Once cooled, place on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper and quick freeze, then transfer to an airtight container. Store frozen for up to 3 months. To reheat, air fry for 5-7 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, in a salad bowl, toss the red onion and garlic, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 tablespoon vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, and pepper to taste. Leave it for 5 to 8 minutes to soften the flavor of the onions.

  • Add cucumber and avocado and mix. When ready to serve, add the shredded lettuce, finish with the remaining 1/2 tablespoon olive oil and 1/2 tablespoon vinegar, season with salt and pepper and adjust as needed.
