Asilia Africa's KoKoKo camp focuses on 'back to basics': Travel Weekly

Luxury operator Asilia Africa will open an intimate safari camp on the banks of the Mwagusi River in Tanzania's Ruaha National Park this July. Kokoko Camp consists of just three tents and offers an exclusive experience for up to six guests led by top Asilia guides.

The camp will blend into the landscape with a minimalist design that focuses on the surrounding nature. The three spacious tents have en-suite bathrooms and come with retractable covers to maximize stargazing at night.

The goal of the camp is to provide an immersive, back-to-basics safari experience. Travelers can enjoy exploratory walking safaris, game drives, night drives, stargazing, and dinner surrounded by lanterns on the riverbed. The remote location means activities are tailored to guests' interests each day. Limited WiFi focuses on disconnecting you from your daily life.

Coco Camp is closed every year from November to June during the rainy season when wildlife disperses. It then reopens during the dry season from July to October, when animal sightings are concentrated along the river. The camp is a 45-minute drive from Msembe Airstrip, with a transfer from Dar es Salaam in less than 2 hours.
