According to the player’s union, the decrease in the county championship from 14 to 12 is the “only rational option” to protect the physical and mental welfare of domestic cricket athletes.
According to a survey of professional crickketers’ association (PCA), 83 %of the members had concerns about a certain physical impact, and two -thirds were worried from a mental health point of view.
County discussed the change of calendar next year and urged Warwickshire Seamer and PCA Chairman Olly Hannon-Dalby to reduce the amount of red ball crickets.
Hannon-Dalby said, “We are at an important moment in connection with the future of the professional cricket players of the UK and Wales. This schedule has always been a controversial issue and has seen too much review without change.”
“But the feeling of fixed power in the recent season has led to an opportunity to immediately take a positive action and the game can grow.
“The change in the 12 -league game format in the County Championship format is the only reasonable option and will bring a new life to believe that it will be the world’s best red ball competition.”
The results of how the 2026 days will look will be expected this month, and the modification requires more than 12 of the 18 counties, and some have publicly expressed their preferences.
MiddleSEX, Somerset, and Surrey support 14 games in 14 games, while Durham and Lancashire prefer 12 games and the current secondary division structure.
The PCA figures thought that more than 3/4 of male athletes had too many domestic crickets, and 72 %thought that the current program would not help with high performance.
England and Warricksher’s CHRIS WOAAKES said, “Players don’t want to make less crickets because they don’t want them. You can produce the best crickets as much as possible.”
The team that plays twice in two days in Vitality Blast has long been concerned. PCA chief executive Daryl Mitchell warned of the potential for “miserable” results of the road last year.
Domestic English T20 competition is likely to return to six groups. Currently, each team, not nine games, will play 12 games.
But Mitchell said:
England and ESSEX SEAMER SAM COOK added:
“We want to see these decisions before serious things happen.
“We can’t do it at the highest level we can do because of the current schedule. We have amazing talents and great cricket players in this country. Cricket, fans and supporters think that standards will go up.”
